Large Round Peace Pole

Between the height, diameter and the number of translations, as far as I know these are the largest peace poles available anywhere. I have built larger on special commission, but in terms of peacepoles that are already designed and ready to be ordered, I think these are the largest there are.

This peace pole is copper wrapped around stainless steel. It has between 21 and 33 translations, depending on the diameter you choose. To label which language is which, the name of each language is  below it etched in stainless steel. You can pick which translations from the list of more than 100 available here.

The diameter can vary between 10 inches and 18 inches. The smallest version of this has a 10 inch diameter and is 14 feet tall (3 feet go below ground) and costs $4,900. The tallest version is 18 inches in diameter, 21 feet tall (4 feet go below ground) and costs $9,900. Other sizes in between are available. The diagram at right shows an 18 inch diameter circle as compared to other sizes of peace poles.

As a suggestion, a size that works well for this peace pole is a diameter of 18 inches and a length of about 17 feet. With 3.5 feet of that underground 14 feet would be above round. That peace pole would have 33 translations and cost $8500.

Shipping is expected to be in the $400 to $700 range in the lower 48 states of the United States.

Page Under Construction

The peace pole at left is ten inches in diameter and made of stainless and copper. The peace pole at right is bronze and copper in the same size.

I have redesigned these since these photos were taken. The copper sections with the languages on them now are longer, allowing the languages to be bigger. This is possible because the narrow bands separating them are smaller, as in the photos of the pole at the top of this page. However, I thought these two worth showing for options for the cap.

The top of the one at right has two Mercator Projections of the earth back to back. Since you see only half of a cylinder at any one time, you see only one image of the earth as you look at the peace pole, but you do see almost the whole earth wherever you stand. With each step you take around the pole, you see the earth from a different perspective.

Beneath the Mercator Projection on the right is a band three inches high with seven symbols on it. If some symbol is important to you, a dove with an olive branches in its beak, or a Sadako Crane, or other symbol or text of your choice, it can be incorporated on a band like this. It is expected that there will be some customization after learning more about your interests - possibly even a top that is entirely different than any of these.

In the photos at the left and right, at the top of the poles there are gaps separating the top bands from the rest of the peace poles. In the new design, that is a dark space that is solid, as is seen at the top of the page.

Depending on the time of year, these could take twelve weeks to finish, with so many translations.

Another photo of one of these can be seen here.
