Music Notes

"Imagine" by John LennonAt this time musical notes are available only on metal peace poles and resin peace poles. And on those this is the one translation for which there is an extra charge. I don't like charging extra for these things, but this one is soooo time consuming that to put it on a resin pole I charge $50.00 extra and to put it on a metal pole I charge $100 extra.

The photo at left shows the music for "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me" on a Resin peace pole. At right is John Lennon's "Imagine." The specific section of that song is the phrase "Imagine all the people living life in peace." Those are the two pieces of music available at this time.

The Lennon piece is the music as it appears in the John Lennon Songbook. If it were being written fresh with the unison melody written by itself for the general public, it would be an octave lower and the stems would be on the right side going up. Instead it is written as a tenor part. If that bothers your musical sensibility, to alter it would take at least 20 hours of work (it needs to be setup in a way that works for a machine) for which I would need to charge.

As food for thought, other songs I had contemplated using included:
1) "How many times must the cannon balls fly before they're forever banned" from Bob Dylan's Blowin' In the Wind.
2) John Lennon's "All we are saying is give peace a chance."
3) Cat Steven's Peace Train.

Music is not available on stone peace poles. It is the nature of musical notation that it removes too much stone for what remains to be durable. If the music was about 12 feet long it might work in stone, but even then it would take some experimenting to be sure.
