Filipino / Pilipino / Tagalog

Filipino is one of the two National Languages of the Philippines. The other is English.

Filipino is Tagalog with the inclusion of words not originally from Tagalog, like English uses words not of English origin like Sushi and Vodka and Tattoo.

Tagalog does not permit the inclusion of loan words from other languages. But it is the first language of a third of the population of the Philippines and the second language of most of the rest, so even though it is not one of the National Languages, it is an important language.

The difference between the Filipino translation and the Tagalog translation of  "May peace prevail on earth" is that final word in the Filipino translation is Spanish. During the 333 year that Spain occupied them they picked up the Latin alphabet and many Spanish words.

Filipino
Sana'y Manatili ang Kapayapaan sa Mundo

Tagalog
Sana'y manatili ang kapayapaan sa daigdig

When speaking casually Filipinos tend to say Pilipino instead of Filipino because the "f" sound did not exist in their original language and so it is not easy for them to say.
