Everyone was invited to move in closer to the peace pole and
it was unveiled.
It was explained that one Indian tradition has it that people
were put on earth to glorify cedar trees and this is a cedar peace pole.
Tobacco also was important to some Indians.
Tobacco in wooden and tortoise shell bowls
was passed around for each person to hold
a pinch in a palm for an Indian inspired ceremony.
