Bronze Peace PoleClick photos to enlargeAt the present time, for most people I recommend the copper peace pole over this one. On the copper there is more contrast between the text and the patina, and the patina is a brighter, more varied and more interesting texture. Ordering a bronze peace pole would take longer at this point because I've stopped stocking the material and have to get it shipped in.
The letters on the bronze poles have more of a gold color. On the copper peace pole there is more red in them. These are the natural colors of the metal. This is a true bronze. It is an alloy called Naval Brass. It was developed long ago to survive the harshest environments. You can refer to it either as bronze or brass. The photo at right reflects a sunset in the letters. The photo below was taken on a cloudy, winter day.

I make the bronze peacepoles with a copper cap so that after a while in the weather the pole is green but the cap is red, as you can see in the photo. It makes a nice mix with the gold letters. Also, the rain dripping off the copper cap over time effects the patina on the bronze pole. The further down you go the more drips from the copper cap hit the pole. That brings more blue into play at the bottom gradually turning to green as you go up. Red, green, blue, gold. The bronze peace pole gets more colorful as time goes on. Five-SidedAs I've said elsewhere on this site, five sides give the pole more mass than four-sided poles and angles that are more interesting than six-sided poles. This gives it a presence that I think better serves the message. HomeTranslations of Peace Prayer for Peace Poles |
